III PRISMS
GEOMETRY OF INTERDEPENDENCE AND THE INVISIBLE CUBE
INTRODUCTION
The 3PRIMAS Installation is an investigation into volume, balance, and the challenge to the topological nature of geometry. It is part of the Impossible series, which began in 2023, and references impossible geometries, where the exploration focuses on representing infinite continuity, the challenge of existence, and the representation of unreal figures in a four-dimensional space.
The concept in this installation is based on the physical interdependence of bodies in space, situated between Euclidean geometry and the paradox of the visual. The logic of the impossible object.

Geometric figure of the Three Interlocking Bricks
CONTEXT
The aesthetics of the concrete
3PRISMAS is born from the transition from drawing to material, from the three-dimensional creation of the figure of the “Three Interlocking Bricks.” This figure is derived from the principles of the Penrose Triangle, conceived by the artist Oscar Reutersvärd in 1934 and analyzed by the mathematical physicist Roger Penrose in the 1950s. While on a flat surface the “Three Interlocking Bricks” deceive the eye through perspective and an apparent representation, in 3PRISMAS the impossibility changes nature and becomes physical. It is not an optical trick, but a real interlocking system. The autonomy of the prisms is, paradoxically, the impossible: none of them can be extracted without having to release, disassemble, or break at least one of the others as a closed geometric entity.
In this production process, a new concept emerges: interdependence and the Brunn Link. There is a fundamental interrelation between the elements; By removing any one of its components, the rest is freed. These three geometric bodies are held in a delicate equilibrium through a system of tensions that connects the suspended prisms to a central gravitational axis. This tension of bodies in equilibrium is what generates a state of rest and calm, but if that equilibrium is broken, the system collapses.

THEORETICAL FOUNDATION
THE INVISIBLE CUBE
The metaphor of the 3 Prisms: Identity, Ego, and Empathy. This object, which defies conventional notions, leads to the existence of a perfect "invisible cube" at the center of the prisms' intersections, impossible to visualize due to the absence of faces. 3PRISMS avoids the decorative and presents itself as a raw and concrete geometric fact. It speaks of interdependence, of the balance achieved through a cycle of tensions, and of a form of resistance. It does not seek to be a beautiful object, but a real object governed by its own mathematical and physical laws. It is, if you will, a romantic demonstration that geometry is the most direct language for expressing the complexity of relationships. Attempting to define Being, as an individual, from the perspective of consciousness, sensitivity, and human interaction, I can argue, given my affinity for mathematics, that it is a geometric metaphor for set theory. The intersection of A, B, and C represents the core of our being. Each prism of 3 prisms occupies a specific place and has a specific function. 1. The Central Prism: IDENTITY This is the main prism, the vertical axis that supports the fundamental structure of our being. Identity is the central pillar that connects us to the ground and the forces of our environment, to reality. It is our gravitational axis. It is the sum of our own values, beliefs, personal history, and learned culture. This authenticity provides coherence and support. It is the strong prism that bears the weight of our interactions and our defenses. 2. The Outstanding Prism: THE EGO Permeating Identity, it always seeks to rise. The Ego is the prism of self-preservation and individuality. In our Western culture, the Ego possesses great power and constantly struggles. Outstanding, it manifests in a more vertical way, seeking to dominate and position itself above Empathy. However, it does not float; it is supported and anchored to the central prism, preventing it from overflowing and maintaining its balance. 3. The Horizontal Prism: EMPATHY Crossing the structure of Identity from side to side, extending outward into the environment, lies Empathy. This horizontality represents the capacity to receive, connect, and be receptive, sensitive to the realities of others. It remains stable within a finite expansion because it is firmly connected to and sustained by Identity. It allows for social cohesion, compassion, and understanding; it is the expansive force that connects us to the outside world. Its equilibrium also lies within Identity, traversed by the Ego of the protruding prism. The Invisible Cube Where these three prisms—the gravitational pillar that connects us to the earth (Identity), the force that protects us and propels us to excel (The Ego), and the extension that connects us horizontally (Empathy)—intersect in space, they create a space of exact overlap. The invisible cube is the precise intersection of these three sets. It represents the state of full and integrated consciousness. A mathematical resolution of the Authentic Self. The three variables of ourselves coexist in perfect proportion. It is a cube because, mathematically, since the three rectangular prisms are equal, they inevitably form a central cube. Absolute stability in a four-dimensional space, as we coexist with the coordinate of time. It is invisible because its material structure cannot be observed from the outside; it is an internal volume, contained within the geometry that one has constructed. At this center, at the exact point of intersection, the forces of tension collaborate simultaneously. Identity provides the foundation of firm coordinates, allowing us to know who we are without doubt. The Ego ceases its attempts to dominate and abandons the struggle to excel excessively, establishing a healthy limit that protects our individuality. Empathy expands within the horizontal axis, without the risk of the individual being diluted by their unshakeable gravitational pull. This invisible cube in equilibrium is only possible under these conditions. The three prisms possess the same volume, an equivalence that symbolizes the profound interdependence of the system. One prism cannot be altered without compromising the stability of the entire structure. If the Ego expands disproportionately, the structure loses its center of gravity, becoming destabilized and dragging the individual toward narcissism. If Empathy gains too much volume, the structure collapses, dissolving the person into the emotions of others. In this mathematical design, one prism cannot change without the others adapting and changing. The invisible cube is a testament to absolute interdependence. The forces must maintain the same intensity to avoid breaking. The Inner Sanctuary sustained by the non-negotiable interdependence of the three equivalent volumes.

WOOD

There is a playful element in the genesis of this version of the work. The prisms are not born intertwined; they are assembled in space through the play of assembly. The work is composed of three prisms created by their edges and vertices. Dimensions: 5 meters high x 3 meters wide x 1.6 meters deep. Each prism is constructed using wooden edges (multi-layered rectangular pine beams), devoid of faces, which allows the viewer to observe the intersection of planes and the movement of one prism through the other. The spatial arrangement is based on a central prism supported vertically on the ground, establishing the gravitational axis and the base of equilibrium. The other two prisms are suspended by four guides (steel cables) anchored to the central prism. This balance is not only aesthetic but also mechanical. The viewer perceives volumes that appear to float, defying conventional coordinates. TECHNICAL AND ASSEMBLY SPECIFICATIONS: Materials: 3 demountable wooden prisms (composed of 8x8” multi-laminated pine columns). Structures treated and varnished to ensure durability indoors. Tensioning: 8 steel cables, turnbuckles, concealed structural hardware, and high-security carabiners. Logistics: The artwork is completely self-contained and requires no drilling into the room. The central prism acts as ballast and support. Its assembly requires a presentation process using temporary supports and progressive tensioning of the cables until perfect equilibrium is achieved. MATERIALS 3 Demountable wooden prisms composed of: 12 multi-laminated pine columns, 8x8” and 5 meters long 12 multi-laminated pine columns, 8x8” and 3 meters long 12 multi-laminated pine columns, 8x8” and 1.6 meters long Materials of Production: 8 steel slings 8 turnbuckles 32 steel fittings 48 structural corner brackets 16 anchor brackets 16 safety carabiners Screws

IRON

This monumental version is presented as a concrete geometric entity that engages directly with the scale of the landscape and the elements. The theoretical core of this prototype rests on concepts that bring art, nature, and time into dialogue: tensegrity and liberation. The work operates on the basis of tensional integrity, where the edges of the three iron prisms do not touch each other, but are joined by iron chains. The environment, sculpted by the wind, interacts with the sculpture: the gusts, with the friction of the links, generate a minimal and organic soundscape. This balanced tension functions as an urban metaphor; a delicate and tense equilibrium between the architectural intervention and the natural environment. TECHNICAL AND ASSEMBLY SPECIFICATIONS: PRISMS Quantity: 3 prisms created by the edges and vertices. Dimensions (m): 5 high x 3 wide x 1.6 deep. Material: Structural square iron tubing 120 x 120 x 3.2 mm (11.77 kg/m). 21 bars of 6 m each. Ensures dimensional stability under the compressive forces inherent in tensegrity and prevents deformation from the weight of the prisms. CHAINS Quantity: 8 Length: 2.0924 m each. Material: Short iron link, 10 mm (Grade 80 high-strength. Working load 3150 kg). The chain works under tension, maintaining the suspension system of the two aerial prisms. EYE BOLTS Quantity: 8 on the primary prism, 4 on the secondary prism, 4 on the tertiary prism. Material: 1 stainless steel bolt (8 mm diameter x 60 mm height). FOUNDATIONS Quantity: 4 footings positioned 10 cm below ground level. Dimensions (m): 0.80 x 0.80 x 0.40 Material: Reinforced concrete (H-21) Four reinforced concrete (H-21) footings measuring 0.80 x 0.80 x 0.40 m will be constructed with a 0.30 x 0.30 m column of variable height depending on soil conditions. In this case, a height of 0.40 m is assumed. The bottom reinforcement consists of a Ø12 mm rebar grid spaced every 15 cm. The column is reinforced with four Ø16 mm bars and Ø8 mm stirrups spaced every 20 cm. A 5 cm concrete cover is required. These dimensions are assumed for budgeting purposes. The adjustments will be made once the soil conditions have been determined. The area is covered with soil and sand to camouflage the base.
